Mark Thorsen
Due Diligence Associate

Mark comes to us from San Diego, California where he was the Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of San Diego. In that role, he coached and mentored student entrepreneurs on their business plans, strategy, and financing. He was also actively involved with several San Diego-based start-up incubators, business think-tanks, and venture groups, and he served as a panel judge in several pitch competitions.

Before that, Mark ran his own startup for 2 years, for which he raised $300k in angel investment. His company sought to limit the damage caused by the annual brushfires that ravage California in the summer. He worked with chemical engineers to develop and market a patented non-toxic chemical additive that could make anything fireproof.

Prior to entrepreneurship, Mark worked in finance for 5 years, managing the operations for JPMorgan, HSBC, and PIMCO. He graduated from UC-San Diego in three years with a degree in Economics while completing two finance internships and working a full-time job.
